Phenomenal Actress Cicely Tyson

AME Bishop Vashti McKenzie
Delta Alexa Canady, M.D. - at age 26 became the first Black woman neurosurgeon in the United States . She specializes in pediatric neurosurgery.

Delta Aretha Franklin
- acclaimed as the "Queen of Soul"

Delta Alexis Herman
– former Secretary of Labor and Cabinet Member in President Bill Clinton's administration

Delta Dr. Betty Shabazz
- was the director of communications and public relations for Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York. She is widely recognized as the widow of Malcolm X.

Delta Dr. Camille Cosby
- married to actor/educator Bill Cosby, she is a philanthropist that has been involved in public service and education through funding black colleges.

Delta Cicely Tyson
– revered actress and winner of 1974 Emmy for her role in "The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman."

Delta Erica Dunlap
- broke a 68-year-old color barrier by becoming the first African American Miss Florida. She was named Miss America 2004.

Delta Elaine R. Jones
- the first woman to serve as Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. She is also the first African American woman graduate of the University of Virginia Law School and the first African American woman elected to the American Bar Association Board of Governors.

Delta Brigadier General Hazel Johnson Brown, Ph.D.
- was the first African American woman general in the United States Army.

Delta Jewel S. Lafontant
- was the first American woman to be admitted into the International Academy of Trial
Lawyers.

Delta Judith Jamison
- has astounded audiences for years with her graceful dancing style. She has danced with the Alvin Ailey dance troupe and has also organized her own modern-dance troupe - the Jamison Project.

Delta Kimberly Aiken Cockerham
- was crowned Miss America in 1994. She founded HERO (Homeless Education and Resource Organization), a homeless outreach that provided employment and educational training.

Delta Keisha Knight Pulliam
- Famous child star from "The Cosby Show" where she earned an Emmy nomination and numerous awards.

Delta Kim Whitley
- actress and guest on the Steve Harvey Morning Show.

Delta Lena Horne
- This legendary singer and actress.

Delta Leontyne Price
– Renowned opera singer who won 18 Grammys and sang in leading opera houses around the world.

Delta Mary McLeod Bethune
- one of the most influential African-American women in United States history. She founded the Bethune-Cookman College  and co-founded the National Council of Negro Women.

Delta Nancy Wilson
– Jazz vocalist with record success that includes 60 albums, a Grammy, an Emmy, professional awards, and appearances television and motion pictures.

Delta Natalie Cole
– Versatile singer and daughter of the late Nat "King" Cole.  

Delta Nikki Giovanni
- Famous poet, recording artist and activist who has received numerous honors for her works.

Delta Olympia Scott-Richardson
- Former captain and starting center of Indiana Fever WNBA team where she achieved new career highs in scoring, rebounding and assists. She was the first Fever player to snatch 300 rebounds in a Fever uniform.

Delta Patricia Roberts Harris
- was the first Black woman to be appointed ambassador to a European country (Luxembourg ) and to be appointed to a presidential cabinet post as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Delta Roberta Flack
– Trailblazing singer, musician and songwriter whose career success was formed at Howard University, where, as a student, she teamed with fellow trailblazer Donny Hathaway.

Delta Ruby Dee
- Emmy award-winning stage, film, and television actress who performed in Broadway smash A Raisin In the Sun and Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever.

Delta Selma Burke, Ph.D.
- Distinguished artist who designed the profile of President Franklin D. Roosevelt on the United States dime.

Delta Shirley Caesar
– the “Queen of Gospel".

Delta Shirley Chisholm
- the first Black woman member of the U.S. Congress, was the first African American and first woman to run as a major party candidate for the presidency of the United States.

Delta Theresa Merritt (Hines)
- She is best known as a star of stage, screen and television. She starred on television in the family sitcom "That's My Mama."

Delta Vashti M. McKenzie
– Granddaughter of one the Sorority’s founders, she was elected the first female Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, and is an heir to the Afro American newspaper dynasty.

Delta Wilma Rudolph
- was the first American woman to win three gold medals in track and field at a single Olympiad.
